The Walmart Foundation Funds Student Transition Program

The Walmart Foundation and The Arc of The United States are teaming with The Arc of York County and The School District of the City of York to provide School-to-Work Transition services to five William Penn Senior High School students who have intellectual disabilities. The program will take place over the next two years.

The students, who are juniors this year, will begin with internships with local employers in order to gain work experience. Over the next two school years the students will receive assistance with job placement, on-the-job training, and follow-up services from The Arc of York County staff.

The Walmart Foundation School-to-Community Transition Project is a $3 million grant awarded to The Arc of The United States. Forty –five sub-grants were awarded nationwide to agencies that will provide the services locally. York City School District will also provide funding for the program.
